Hi, I’m Susie Landsem,
and live in NW Washington with my husband and labradoodle. My 2 kids are off and running their own lives, with regular check-ins with mom. I can often be found running on local trails, in the gym or local coffee houses. I’ve supported community non-profits, most notably the Boys and Girls Clubs of Whatcom County.
I’ve been in the design and construction industry for 15 years. Our architecture firm’s multi-family and commercial buildings have all been designed with accessibility requirements including grab bars, wheelchair accessible rest rooms and elevators when required. Two standout things that strike me needing improvements are 1) the requirements don’t really solve all accessibility needs, and 2) the results are often institutional looking. I started Aging in Place by Design because we can do better for people who want to stay in their homes for a long time.
About Aging in Place by Design
As we get older, our needs change. Many people want to stay in their homes for as long as possible for financial and other reasons. With an assessment of situations and goals, I can design personalized strategies to make sure that your home will be able to adapt through the transitions of life. We’ll go through all of the opportunities available, including building, technology advances and local services to prepare a plan tailored just for you. I’ll help facilitate that plan from the beginning to the successful completion of your safer home where you’ll be able to live independently for as long as feasible.
Please send me an email to see how I can help you achieve your future goals.
